What gets forgotten most often?
Two things: a stray noindex left over from staging, and analytics not actually recording. Both are invisible on the site itself, and the first can take weeks to notice and longer to recover from.
When should this run?
A few days before launch, not on the day. Several items — DNS propagation, certificate issuance, search console verification — take time to take effect, and discovering that on launch morning means launching without them.
Do I need to submit a sitemap?
It helps discovery on a new site with few inbound links, which is exactly the launch case. It is not required for indexing, and it will not rescue pages that are blocked or thin.
What belongs in the post-launch section?
The checks that can only be done once the site is live and receiving traffic — real error rates, actual page speed from the field, whether analytics is recording conversions. Those cannot be verified in staging.
How soon should I check search indexing?
Within a few days, and then again after two weeks. Early absence is normal; absence after a fortnight usually means something is blocking it, and finding out then is much cheaper than finding out in a month.
