Cold outreach email
A cold email that survives the two-second skim: a hook about them, one sentence about you, and an ask so small it's easy to say yes to.

SubjectYour write-up on invoice automation — quick question
Hi Meera,
I read your write-up on automating invoice processing for mid-size clinics last month — which is why I'm writing to you rather than a generic inbox.
I run Zellio, a suite of browser-based document tools — 40,000 clinics' invoices pass through it monthly without any data leaving their machines.
Would you be open to a 15-minute call next week to see if the privacy-first approach fits the workflow you described? If it's not relevant, a one-line "not for us" is a completely fine answer and I won't follow up more than once.
Best,
Sudheesh
How to use it well
- →The hook has to be genuinely about them — their post, their product, their talk. If the first sentence works with any recipient's name swapped in, it's spam and reads as such.
- →One email, one ask. Every extra link or option lowers the reply rate by giving the reader a reason to defer.
- →The "fine to say no" line isn't politeness theatre — explicit permission to decline measurably raises replies from busy people.
