About EXIF Viewer & Remover

GPS coordinates are the field to check first, since a phone photo can carry the exact spot it was taken. Some platforms strip metadata on upload and others preserve it, so removing it yourself is the only approach that behaves the same everywhere.

Inspect the metadata embedded in a photo — camera model, capture date, exposure settings and GPS coordinates — then optionally download a clean copy. Everything is read locally in your browser.

Inspect the hidden EXIF metadata inside a photo — camera model, capture date, exposure settings and even GPS coordinates — then download a clean copy with all of it removed. Stripping metadata protects your privacy before you share images online.

Photos taken on a phone routinely embed the exact spot they were shot, along with the device model and the capture time. Stripping that before sharing is the difference between posting a picture and publishing where you live.

Frequently asked questions

What information can I expect to see?

Typically camera make and model, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, the capture timestamp, and GPS coordinates when location was enabled. How much is present depends entirely on the device that took it.

Why does my photo show no EXIF at all?

Because something already stripped it — most commonly a social platform, a messaging app, or a screenshot tool. Editing and re-exporting also discards metadata in many programs.

Can EXIF tell me if an image was edited?

Sometimes. Editing software often writes its own name into the metadata, which is a hint but not proof. Metadata is trivially editable, so it is evidence of convenience rather than authenticity.

Common Use Cases

  • Checking what a photo reveals before you share it
  • Recovering the exact settings used for a shot you liked
  • Confirming when and where an image was actually taken
